About Frederic Lau: Frederic Lau is currently based in Hong Kong as a Managing Director at the Promontory Financial Group China Ltd. Before joining Promontory, Mr. Lau was head of group risk management for Dah Sing Banking Group, a listed financial institution headquartered in Hong Kong. He was also a member of the board of trustees of the Global Association of Risk Professionals. Mr. Lau is currently an independent non-executive director of Ping An Bank. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lau worked for a decade with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, heading at various times the New York Representative Office, the Banking Policy Division and the Banking Supervision Division. Previously, he worked for nine years with the U.S. Office of Thrift Supervision, where he was the senior examiner-in-charge of the agency’s major institutions division.
