Coming together in the tri-county Gold Coast region of Southern California are local nonprofit community development practitioners, financial institutions, foundations and educators for a discussion on current trends and recent activities in workforce development: best practice job training and placement services. As a backdrop, we know that, since the recession of 2007-09, the rate of national employment has been weak relative to historical trends and that high unemployment remains pervasive particularly in underserved communities. The objective of this forum is to better understand the complex nature of unemployment in LMI communities and to identify promising workforce strategies.
