Michael J. Fernandez

Mike Fernandez is the executive vice president of the Operations + Safety Group. In this role, he oversees the Twelfth District’s Cash Services, Facilities Management, Law Enforcement, and Workplace Experience functions. These groups support the payments system on behalf of the Federal Reserve and provide critical support for the broader Bank. He also serves on the Bank’s Executive Leadership Team and the System’s Cash Advisory Group.

Mike began his tenure with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in 2000 as an operations supervisor in Cash Services. He then held roles of increasing responsibility in Cash, followed by leadership roles in the Statistics and Reserves (STAR) automation team, Regulatory Reporting and Reserves Administration, and as the head of Data Insights + Analytics.

Mike holds an MBA from Saint Mary’s College of California and a BA in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. For fun, Mike enjoys golfing and snowboarding.
